I watched the stars
Spin in space
As they oozed
Brilliant light
And magnificence.
I felt the earth
Heave and fall
Like the breasts of a woman
Gasping, exhaling
Perishing.
I heard the skies
In torment
Scream
As they understood
Their frailty.
I tasted the tang of dawn
Knowing
It must not last
Beyond the moment
Of its Renoir light.
I drank the wine of pleasure
Lamenting
It must not extend
Beyond the moment
Of its perception.
I feel the infirmity of time
Mourning the loss
Of senses
That
Once rejoiced
Must inevitably fall
To disruption
To the way of all flesh
And the brutality of being.
