I’m letting you go.
There is freedom in the choice
But reluctance as well.
What if you are not prepared
To make the decisions
Facing you?
In our house
I champion those choices
Being sure they filter
Through me.
But now
I will be advised of your actions
Like anyone else
In the food chain.
You haven’t the wisdom of fear.
You aren’t slowed by apprehension.
You aren’t judiciously skeptical.
You don’t know what this means.
You can’t see what I see.
In your view
Life is all exclamation points
With no question marks.
I have been where you are
But you have never been where I am.
You scare me.

And yet ... they turned out so very well. All 5 of them. Sweet victory!
