The Most That I Can Do

The Most That I Can Do

You told me to call you.
You’d give me anything I need.
But, baby can’t you see
That this is the way I bleed.

I always meant to tell you
I’m a different kind of man.
But I never thought you’d see
Or I could make you understand.

I never learned to hold another
And let a love get next to me.
I always kept my distance.
Never played two part harmony.

I’m sorry darling, I should have learned
To open up my empty heart.
But I always kept it hidden.
I never let it open to a new start.

I guess it’s too late to try again.
Too late to reach out to you.
But I thought I’d make the gesture.
It’s the most that I can do.
